The Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox, 12-3, in Goodyear as the Indians collected a spring-high 17 hits and JUSTIN MASTERSON (4.0IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 4K) worked 4.0 no-hit, scoreless innings.
The Indians broke the game open with 4 runs in the 6th inning (Duncan 2-run HR, Brantley 2-run double) and 5 runs in the 7th inning (Jose Lopez 3-run HR). RUSS CANZLER went 3 for 4 w/ 2 runs scored to raise his spring batting average to .435. RYAN SPILBORGHS (2-2, RS, 2B, 2RBI) had a pair of RBI hits in the 2nd and 4th innings to give the Tribe an early 3-0 lead. DAN WHEELER allowed a 2-out HR to AJ PIERZYNSKI in the 6th inning as the Sox tied it at 3-3 before the Indians plated a 9-spot in the 6th/7th.
The Indians will travel to Tempe tomorrow to take on the LA Angels at 1:05 PM PDT/4:05PM EDT. The game will be aired live on Indians.com. Starting pitchers are KEVIN SLOWEY & GARRETT RICHARDS.
